How is the eCabs fare calculated?
When you place a booking through eCabs, the system generates an upfront estimated fare. This estimate is based on several factors including traffic patterns, historical trip data, expected route duration, demand at the time of booking (including surge pricing), and any applicable charges such as waiting time or additional stops.
Can the fare change after booking?
While we aim to provide an accurate fare upfront, the final price may vary in certain situations where actual ride conditions differ significantly from the original estimate.
A fare adjustment may occur if:
-
The pick-up or drop-off location is different from the one originally selected.
-
The route is changed mid-trip or is affected by unexpected road closures or diversions.
-
The duration of the trip is significantly longer than anticipated due to heavy traffic, incidents, or delays.
-
Additional charges apply, such as for extra stops or if the free waiting time limit is exceeded.
In such cases, the final fare will be recalculated based on the actual time and distance of the completed journey.
Why did my eCabs fare increase?
eCabs uses dynamic fare estimation. Some factors that may cause a change in fare include:
-
A sudden increase in demand during peak hours or due to special events.
-
Traffic congestion or weather conditions affecting trip duration.
-
Route disruptions, such as roadworks or accidents.
-
Late pick-up or extended waiting time beyond the included free window.
-
Manual changes to your booking, such as changing destination or adding stops.
- Payment type is changed on the app.
Despite these variables, eCabs remains committed to transparent pricing. You will always be shown an estimated fare before confirming your booking, and any change to the fare will be clearly outlined in your trip summary once the journey is complete.
